The Association of Translators and Interpreters Uganda (ATIU) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to this website (the "Website"). This policy describes the type of information we collect, how it is used, to whom we disclose it, and how we safeguard it.

We collect and store personal information that members and visitors voluntarily provide, which may include your name, email address, phone number, physical address, town/city, district, P.O. Box, country, language pairs, specialty, and certification-related documents you submit.

Unlike some professional associations, ATIU does not publicly display certified members' direct contact information (phone number, email, or physical address) on the public Language Services Directory. Instead:
This means certified members' personal contact information is treated as more sensitive than in some comparable directories, and is never published openly on the public-facing site.
ATIU does not store your full credit card, mobile money, or bank account details. Payments are processed through our third-party payment processor (Pesapal). ATIU retains only a record of the transaction (amount, date, and status), not your underlying payment credentials.
ATIU uses a third-party service (Brevo) to send transactional emails, such as registration confirmations, exam results, and membership notices. We will not send you promotional communications without your consent, and you may opt out at any time by reaching out through Contact Us.
This website has security measures in place to protect against loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration of information under ATIU's control. Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing methods and are never stored or visible in plain text, even to ATIU administrators.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no system can guarantee absolute security.
Documents and images you upload (such as certification proof, CEP evidence, or profile photos) are stored via our third-party media provider (Cloudinary). These files are only used for the purpose for which they were submitted (e.g. verifying certification eligibility) and are not shared publicly unless you have consented to their public display (such as a profile photo in the Directory).
